In partnership with Bicycles Inc., we are hosting Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day Oct. 1. The event is a local event based on the International Mountain Biking Association’s TKMBD initiative to encourage communities around the country to ride mountain bikes with kids.
This event will teach children — adults are welcome — basic mountain biking skills, what goes into building and maintaining trails and basic bike maintenance. And of course, we’ll lead the kids on a ride along the easier parts of the trail.
What: Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day
When: 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1
Where: Gateway Park
We’ll primarily be on the easiest section of the trail that almost any bicycle can handle. If there’s enough interest, we can take a group on more advanced sections. There will be hot dogs and refreshments.
This year’s theme is based on International Mountain Biking Association’s four tenants: Speak, Build, Respect Ride. All children must wear a helmet to participate. Please make sure bikes are in good condition to ride with functional brakes and no flat tires. Adults are not required to ride.
